Causes of excessive Ball consumption in Ball Mill

If the ball consumption of ball mill is too high, we should find out the cause and solve it in time, so as to save the cost of steel consumption and improve the grinding efficiency. The reasons for the excessive consumption of steel are:

 

1) Ball quality

 

The quality of steel ball has great relation with ball consumption of ball mill, the wear resistance of surface layer and interior of common forging grinding ball will be quite big, and the velocity of diameter decreasing in grinding process is not uniform, which results in the bigger deviation of steel ball gradation in grinding and the excessive consumption of ball. Even will affect grinding efficiency and fineness; The quality of cast steel balls is good, they are made of round steel, the wear resistance is better than others, and the speed of ball diameter decreasing is more balanced, so the grading deviation will not be caused.

 

2) Too many failure balls

 

Too many failure balls and increased ball breaking rate will lead to the increase of bearing capacity of ball mill and increase of power consumption, which is also one of the reasons of excessive ball consumption.

3) High proportion of large diameter steel ball

 

If the ratio of large diameter steel balls in the mill exceeds 70, it will result in the reduction of the working area of the ball, and we know that the grinding efficiency of the ball mill is derived from the sum of the work done by each ball. Too many large balls lead to many grinding balls fail to give full play to their maximum efficiency, and it is also an inevitable result that the grinding efficiency of ball mill is reduced.
